A customer is taking the Post Office to court over long waiting times.

One disgruntled customer is launching a High Court challenge to the Post Office in a bid to reduce queuing times.

Paul Bryant from Southsea in Hampshire claims waiting times in branches are now far longer than they were before a policy limiting queuing to five minutes was ditched in 2003, reports the Express.

Mr Bryant is taking the Post Office, Postcomm and Royal Mail to the High Court to overturn the decision regarding the policy, even though his first case was rejected by a judge in 2005.

He claims the closure of smaller branches over the last 12 months has made long queues even more problematic.

Mr Bryant told the newspaper: "They are closing post ¬offices all over the country and not ¬catering for the length of the queues when people are dispersed to other places."

The National Federation of SubPostmasters recently claimed the Post Office network in the UK cannot survive any more closures and the government now faces a "stark choice" regarding the institution.
