Adverse weather hits parcel deliveries

Bad weather has hurt the postal systemSnow and ice wreak havoc for parcel deliveries.

The adverse weather conditions sweeping the country have disrupted the postal system with Christmas fast approaching.

A Royal Mail spokesman told the Northampton Chronicle that deliveries are still taking place where possible, but that the snow and icy conditions have meant some have had to be delayed.

There have also been problems in the South Wales and Gwent Valleys, with a representative from Royal Mail telling Walesonline.co.uk that the company is hopeful that parcels and letters would arrive soon.

"We are working hard to resume normal services to ensure mail is delivered by Christmas Eve," the spokesman stated.

There has also been serious disruption to parcel delivery services in the Kent region, with the Sevenoaks area hit particularly hard, thisiskent.co.uk reports.

A Royal Mail spokesman told the news provider he is hopeful all post would arrive in time for Christmas.

According to the Met Office, things should return to normal soon, with the organisation predicting 'no severe weather' for much of the country from tomorrow onwards.
