Industrial action brings chaos to the postal system.Royal Mail has revealed that the national postal strikes which have taken place over the last two days have created a backlog of 30 million letters. The organisation claims the build-up is the equivalent to around 40 per cent of an average daily postbag, meaning consumers may want to explore the services of alternative parcel delivery providers, such as Parcel2Go.com.More than 120,000 staff have downed tools and walked out on the job over the last two days, after talks between Royal Mail bosses and the Communication Workers Union (CWU) broke down. The CWU has also served notice that further industrial action will take place next week unless plans both parties reach an agreement regarding the modernisation of the country's postal service.Meanwhile, the Waltham Forest Gazette recently reported that many residents in the Waltham Forest area are furious at the strikes, with one saying that she has not received some important mail.Written by Laura PritchardArticle Added: 23/10/2009 16:47:47
