Moya Greene named as new Royal Mail chief exec
Royal Mail has named Moya Greene, the current president and chief executive officer
of Canada Post Corporation (CPC), as its new chief executive.
Ms Greene, who will begin in her new role in mid-July, has also held senior roles
at companies including Bombardier and TD Bank.
In her position at CPC, she was at the forefront of a transformation programme aimed
at increasing quality of service and efficiency across the organisation.
Additionally, Ms Greene took measures to secure a strong financial base for CPC,
including access to debt markets, pricing certainty and a clear understanding of
the organisation's service obligations.
"I am honoured to be joining such a great company and to be working with its customers
and its people at such a momentous time in its history," she commented.
Royal Mail chairman Donald Brydon added that Ms Greene will bring "energy, clear
thinking and a proven leadership track record" to the role - the first time it has
been filled by a woman.
"I look forward to working closely with Moya as we tackle the challenges ahead and
continue to focus on satisfying our customers and maintaining the six-days-a-week
Universal Service," he went on to say.
Royal Mail Group also appointed two new non-executive directors at the end of May.
Orna Ni-Chionna, currently senior independent director of Northern Foods and a non-executive
director of HMV, also has 18 years of experience at McKinsey, where she became a
partner in 1990.
Meanwhile, Cath Keers is a non-executive director of Telefonica Europe and the Children's
Mutual, as well as serving as customer director and marketing director of O2 UK
in the past.
"The consumer-focused skills and experience brought by both Orna and Cath will be
an invaluable asset to Royal Mail," added Mr Brydon.
