Winning formula for Parcel2Go.com
Parcel2Go.com has powered up its motorsport support for the 2009 season by signing
up with Absolute, the Bolton-based Formula Four Champions from 2007.
Driver Chris Hodgen has come out of team management to have a crack at the 2009
championship. Absolute is one of the top teams in Formula Four, winning the championship
in 2007 with driver Steve Savage and claiming victory in over a dozen races in the
last three years.
Announcing the deal, Richard Adams-Mercer, Parcel2Go.com’s business development
director, said, “We are thrilled to be sponsoring Chris and his team in 2009 and
what a superb start they’ve had to the season!”
At Easter, in front of over 20,000 spectators, Chris dominated the opening round
of the British Formula Four Championship at a sunny Castle Combe circuit in Wiltshire.
“By qualifying on pole position by 0.8 seconds, I knew the car had the pace to win,”
he said. “It was a fantastic weekend. All thanks go to Richard and the team at Parcel2Go.com
for backing us. With a pole position, a race win and a lap record, I think this
is a great way to thank them!”
For the next round, the team headed to the world famous Brands Hatch circuit. Here
Chris had to be satisfied with a second place but took consolation from scoring
valuable championship points.
The British Formula Four Championship is a national championship for single seater
race cars each using the same spec Ford 1.8 litre engine, which produces over 472
bhp per ton. Formula Four has a number of different chassis manufacturers, including
Van Diemen, Mygale, Ray and Tatuus.
The races take place at prestigious circuits across the UK, from Brands Hatch, Donington
Park and Silverstone to the picturesque Oulton Park in Cheshire.
The 14-round championship consists of six “double header” meetings and two “single
headers” - the second race of a “double header” reverses the grid for the top eight
finishers from the first race to spice up the action a little!
